Guess who this is?

The October Boofest on October 27 at the Morristown Park had a bright and cheery visitor and if you have not guessed already, it was Raggedy Ann.  It brings back many childhood memories if that special doll at cold always put a smile on anyone's face.  Well, our own Yvonne Wheeler really got with it and dressed up for the occasion.  We hope it brings back some good childhood memories for you.  It did for me.

Snapshots from Sunday’s message
July 8th, 2012

And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the Sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? And what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joseph, and of Judas, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
(Mark 6:1-6)

Seeing God in the Ordinary

We often miss the moving presence of God because we have preconceived ideas of how God works and moves. The truth is that God is at work in our lives even when we are not attuned to His presence. God works in wonderful and mysterious ways. The people in Jesus’ hometown were offended by Him even though they recognized His miracles and teachings as something very special. They could not get past the idea that God would work through a humble carpenters son. They allowed their preconceptions to destroy their faith. They did not believe and without faith they saw no miracles performed in their midst. How often does our preconceptions cause us to live in unbelief? God truly is present in our ordinary everyday lives and God works in the lives of ordinary everyday people, just like you and me. Just believe.    Mike
